Underground Superintendent - 2

Responsibilities: • Ensure costs are minimized by constantly examining mining practices for possible improvements efficiencies and productivity • Ensure monthly KPI’s are met or exceeded. • Actively contribute to Project improvements and initiatives • Detailed understanding of the Mine contract, scope and terms with all variances documents • Ensure labour hours and parts are costed to the correct cost codes and work orders are accurate • Actively participate process in the Oracle system • Provide clear performance expectations to direct reports and reinforce correct behaviour through feedback recognition and encouragement • Identify manning needs and liaise with HR regarding recruitment, training. • Advise with relevant managers on all abnormal Safety/IR/ER/HR and Development issues; • Implement training and development needs for all direct reports. Continually work on fostering an open and professional relationship within a work environment. • Drive a culture consistent with the Thiess principles in a professional manner. • Assist the Project Manager with operator recruitment, coordination for operators on crews identifying the skills required. • Coach and mentor the operations crew with continuous improvement initiatives • Ensure operators are suitably skilled and competent to carry out activities and instructions. • Manage the crew training requirements • Achieve effective communication with all internal customers – enhance coordination between own department and other departments by maintaining a good working liaison with relevant personnel.

Requirements: • Bachelor’s and Master degree, relevant industry experience • 10 years experience in a mining environment • Skilled at mine operation (ventilation, ground control, blasting and equipment operation). • Working at a management role managing multiple crews. • Basic MS Office • Sound communication skills – written and oral • Ability to read and interpret mine plans • Adaptability to changing operational situations • Knowledge of mine operation regulatory and legislative • Knowledge of relevant International Standards • Advanced English skills

Site-based Role with 2 weeks on and 2 weeks off.
